#1: EQ2 Author: Tarion, Posted: Fri Sep 10, 2004 1:11 pm ---- I started EQ2 Beta last week and so far it is good. I would compair it to a cross between EQ, Dark Age of Camelot and StarWars Galaxies.
You start on the Island of Refuge fighting goblins and doing little quests until you are between level 4 and 6. At that time you can leave the Isle to go to your city. Either Freeport for evil toons or Qeynos for good toons. When you arrive at the dock to the city you get an apartment as a refugee which you can decorate with furniture you buy. Your equipment degrades as you fight however there are menders who can repair it throughout the city. There are probably 12 zones if not more just for Qeynos. Once you reach about level 9 you can procede out of the city into the hills. So far I am level 7 and it is a blast. I died 5 times last night in a group. If you get on look for Nori a priest. I made Tarion but just haven't wanted to play him yet.
Wow, wish I could play...have given up on MMORGS for the time being...they take too much time.
Keep us updated on your experiences
Thanks,

#3: Re: EQ2 Author: Tessil, Location: Lancaster, CAPosted: Wed Sep 15, 2004 11:50 am ---- I've got EQ2 on pre-order, though god only knows why... I've heard a lot of things that really concern me that it just won't be the same game, let alone enjoyable. A lot of effort was put into keeping the players from doing things that aren't really super-relevant to the core game (such as powerleveling and kill credits). The players worked around those issues long ago. Forcing the issue in the gameplay seems... like a recipe for disaster to me.
Well, remains to be seen, I guess. I didn't have the luck to get into the Beta, so I have to wait like everyone else.
I did get the character creator in the pre-order box, but I've been too lazy to look at it. Somehow, I'm thinking Iksar Monk will be hard for me to get away from...
